About the Columbia Public Library
Established in 1959, the Daniel Boone Regional Library (DBRL) provides public library services to the library districts of Boone and Callaway counties, and the city of Columbia, Missouri. The Columbia Public Library is the largest of the system's facilities and serves both as the public library for the city of Columbia as well as the headquarters for the DBRL system. Other libraries in the system include the Southern Boone County Public Library in Ashland and the Callaway County Public Library in Fulton. In addition, DBRL provides these three districts with bookmobile service through the Outreach Department. Currently, the bookmobile serves eight towns: Auxvasse, Columbia, Hallsville, Harrisburg, Holts Summit, Mokane, Sturgeon and Williamsburg.
The staff of the Columbia Public Library is excited by the opportunity the new building on Broadway offers us to make your visit a rewarding one. The intent of the design was to make the library a focal point of the downtown community and to create spaces that were both highly functional as well as comfortable and enjoyable. The growth of our community has been reflected at the library in steadily increasing circulation rates and a high demand for new materials and collections. The size of this new building, at 102,000 square feet, is helping us accommodate the needs of our growing community and provides us space to add more materials over the next 20 years. This library really belongs to you, the community, and the staff is committed to maintaining a high level of excellence in providing efficient and courteous service.
